"The hand adorned with turquoise will never suffer want," so goes an old saying. Grave goods prove that the ancient Egyptians used turquoise as a gemstone since Predynastic times (around 5500 BC). The most famous pieces come from Tutankhamun's tomb.

Hawk's Eye comes from the tiger's eye family and is often called gray tiger's eye.

Howlite was discovered in 1868 by James Dwight Dana. Its name refers to the mineralogist Henry How.
