The name pyrite comes from the Greek "pyritēs". "Pyritēs" means "of fire" and refers to its property of striking sparks. Pyrite is the original flint and was used as a fire starter with tinder as early as the Stone Age. Therefore, pyrite has always been associated with energy & power.

Hawk's eye and tiger's eye are among the oldest talismans, mysterious and powerful, revered and feared. They were used by the Egyptians in the eye sockets of statues of their deities to express divine visions.
