PIRATES, JEWELRY & TREASURE CHESTS

As you may know - or will know after the next few paragraphs: "JALA KORSAR" means "The Radiant Pirates". The word JALA means "light-bringing / radiant" and the word KORSAR was formerly used for buccaneers - i.e. pirates.

Why we chose this name is relatively quickly explained: The love for the sea and for travel, the dream of one day steering our own sailboat into the sunset. But we don't want to be robbers, instead we want to spread joy, love and light with our jewelry. And our jewelry should also "be able to take it," i.e., survive wild journeys and adventures...

PIRATES

Pirates were sailors in the 17th and 18th centuries known for raiding ships and plundering their treasures. They lived a dangerous life on the high seas, leaving behind a long list of legends and myths surrounding their adventures and riches.

Treasure chests were an important part of pirate plunder. These chests often contained valuable items such as gold, silver, and precious stones, which were stolen and hidden by the pirates. The idea of buried treasure chests full of riches has captivated people's imaginations for centuries and remains a fascinating theme in films & books.

The moral of pirate and treasure stories is often that wealth and greed can have negative effects on life, while the pursuit of adventure and experience is more important than material possessions. However, there are also stories that celebrate the bravery and courage of pirates, showing how they fought against the establishment and the prevailing order.

The Origin of the Treasure Chest

The origin of treasure chests can be traced back to antiquity, when ships with valuable goods and treasures sailed the world's oceans. To protect their valuable cargo, sailors stored it in robust boxes or chests, often secured with locks and bolts.

Throughout history, treasure chests have taken many different forms. In antiquity, they were often made of wood and fitted with brass or bronze. Later, they were made of precious metals like silver and gold and adorned with elaborate decorations.

Over time, treasure chests also came to be used in other contexts, such as storage for valuable documents and objects. In popular culture, however, they are most closely associated with pirates and their adventures, who were known for raiding ships and hiding their treasures in treasure chests.

Jewelry & Pirates

Jewelry has always played an important role in pirate culture. Pirates were known for raiding ships and plundering valuable treasures, including jewelry. They could then sell this loot or wear it for their own satisfaction.

For many pirates, jewelry was not only a symbol of wealth and power, but also a status symbol. By wearing expensive pieces, they signaled their success and importance in the pirate world. In addition, jewelry sometimes served as currency and could be exchanged for other goods if needed.

Treasure Chests: Many treasure chests plundered by pirates contained not only jewelry, but also gold coins, gemstones, jewels, and other valuables.

Pirate Jewelry: Pirates often wore unique jewelry, crafted from unusual materials and with interesting designs. This jewelry was often an important part of their outfit and showed their personality and adventurous spirit.

Treasure Maps: Many pirates kept treasure maps that helped them hide their loot and later find it again. Some of these maps were very detailed and included drawings of landscapes, caves, and other places where the treasure was hidden.

Pirate Code: Many pirates had their own code that they followed when it came to distributing loot. This code could include rules for the distribution of jewelry and other valuables, as well as rules for conduct on board and life at sea.

Treasure Hunt: To this day, many people are searching for hidden treasures and treasure chests. Some are searching for the famous pirate treasure of Captain Kidd or the treasure of the notorious pirate Blackbeard.
